Funeral of Private Luke Worsley

04 December 2007

Almost 1000 mourners congregated in the Sydney CBD at St Andrew’s Cathedral for the funeral of Private Luke Worsley, who was tragically killed in Afghanistan recently.

On hand to pay their respects to the Commando were Governor General of the Commonwealth of Australia His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery, Prime Minister of Australia The Hon. Kevin Rudd MP, and Leader of the Opposition Dr Brendan Nelson MP.

The Chief of the Defence Force, Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston, Chief of Army Lieutenant General Peter Leahy, and the Special Operations Commander Australia, Major General Mike Hindmarsh, were also present to pay their respects to a fallen hero.

The cathedral was filled to capacity as family, friends and colleagues of Private Worsley came together to pay their respects to a brave soldier whose humour and good nature were endearing to all who knew him.
