Tiger helicopters make first flight to Darwin
17 August 2007
Three Armed Reconnaissance Helicopters (ARH), known as the 'Aussie Tiger helicopters' have arrived in Darwin for two weeks of training as part of the first Australian Army Qualified Instructor's Course.
Once flying instructors complete their training, they will immediately begin training Darwin's Kiowa pilots, preparing them for the mid-2008 arrival of their own Tiger helicopters.
The Army's newest helicopters will be staying at the facilities with the 1st Aviation Regiment compound in Robertson Barracks during August.
Purchased for its enhanced reconnaissance and precision firepower capabilities, seven aircraft have been delivered to the Army to date.
