Make-A-Wish Foundation’s annual Wish Day campaign
04 April 2007
Submarine HMAS Collins recently had a temporary change of command when nine-year-old “Captain Jordan” toured the sub for the launch for the Make-A-Wish Foundation’s annual Wish Day campaign.
Perth youngster Jordan, who has leukaemia, was accompanied by sister Tiana and brother Ray on a police launch from Fremantle out to Fleet Base West, where HMAS Collins is currently stationed.
Jordan was welcomed by HMAS Collin’s commanding officer Commander Glen Miles and all the crew, who showed him the view of outside world through the periscope, as well as a torpedo launch (for which Jordan wisely covered his ears). He even looked the part, wearing custom-made overalls like the rest of the crew.
