Sinking of the Pong Su

23 March 2006

The vessel Pong Su, which was seized by the Australian Federal Police during a major narcotic operation in 2003, was disposed of on 23 March 2006.

Flying in support of the Australian Federal Police, Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) F-111 strike aircraft bombed and sank the vessel approximately 140 kilometres off the NSW South Coast of Jervis Bay.

A (RAAF) AP-3C Orion surveillance aircraft performed range clearance and safety during the exercise.
