RAAF C-17 Globemaster arrives at Royal Australian Air Force Base Amberley

The arrival of the first of four C-17A Globemaster aircraft, A41-206, at Royal Australian Air Force Base Amberley heralded a new era in aviation for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). After a perfect touchdown by United States Air Force Exchange Officer Major Lee Guthrie, accompanied by Commanding Officer No.36 Squadron Wing Commander Linda Corbould, OAM, and her crew.

The crowd consisted of local dignitaries, RAAF members, and the general public who were given a tour of the inside of RAAF's new C-17A. Ipswich Mayor Councillor Paul Pisasale officially welcomed the the crew to the City of Ipswich. Air Commodore Glen Steed, Commander Air Lift Group, Wing Commander John Martin, Base Commander RAAF Base Amberley and Member for Ipswich West, Wayne Wendt also addressed the crowd.
