Operation Larry Assist disaster relief

Under Operation Larry Assist, the Australian Defence Force is supporting cyclone relief work of the Queensland Government as part of the Commonwealth Disaster Plan in the aftermath of Cyclone Larry.

Defence personnel are now working closely with other agencies in Innisfail and Babinda.
The Defence focus is on erecting tarpaulins, distributing food and water, clearing debris and providing specialist tradesmen such as plumbers and electricians where required.
Brigadier Michael Slater is coordinating the Defence operation from his headquarters in Townsville. Defence support at 23 March includes more than 400 personnel and the following assets:
