Opening of the new Headquarters Building for 36 and 37 Squadrons
12 April 2006
The
new Headquarters Building for 36 and 37 Squadrons
has been completed at Royal Australian Air Force
(RAAF) Base Richmond.
The new building replaces the old 36 Squadron
Headquarters building, which has been demolished,
and the old 37 Squadron Headquarters building.
The new building was constructed as part of
the RAAF Base Richmond re-development project.
The building design is highly innovative in
its adoption of environmentally sustainable
principles and functional layout.
The Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA)
has awarded the building its Australian Excellence
Five Star Green Star ratings for both design
and construction. This is the first building
in Australia to receive both certifications.
