Exercise Mars Anchor and Exercise Mercury
19 October 2005
The
Australian Defence Force ability to respond
effectively to terrorist incidents requires
constant training by ADF personnel and regular
coordination with relevant Federal and State/Territory
authorities.
Exercise Mars Anchor and Exercise Mercury facilitate
this type of training.
The units involved in Exercise Mars Anchor,
from 10-16 October 2005, also participated in
a national counter terrorist activity, Exercise
Mercury 05, from 17-21 October 2005.
Defence is one of many Federal and State/Territory
Departments participating in these exercises.
The exercises are vital training activities
for the ADF to practise counter-terrorist and
consequence management skills at a number of
different locations.
