$300 million Defence contract for removals and storage

14 June 2005

A new three-year contract valued at $300 million will provide an enhanced removal and storage service for Australian Defence Force and Defence civilian personnel, the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Defence, Teresa Gambaro, announced on 14 June 2005.

Toll Transport was announced as the successful tenderer for the provision of domestic and international removals and storage services for ADF and Defence civilian personnel during a signing ceremony at Parliament House, Canberra.

"This removals contract is the largest contract for removal services in Australia," Ms Gambaro said.

"The dispersed nature of the ADF throughout Australia establishes the need for Defence to be able to move its personnel and their families between ships, units and bases, and when you include Defence families, this figure is in excess of 21,000 personnel, annually."
