Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston assumes
command of the Australian Defence Force as Chief
of the Defence Force. He succeeds General Peter
Cosgrove who has retired from the ADF after
more than 40 years of service. Defence Minister
Robert Hill praised General Cosgrove’s leadership
of the ADF during the last three years.
