Preferred designer announced for new air warfare destroyers

The Minister for Defence Robert Hill announced on 16 August 2005 the selection of Gibbs & Cox as the preferred designer for the Royal Australian Navy's new air warfare destroyers. "The Gibbs & Cox evolved design will now compete with an Australianised version of Spain's existing F100 design, and will be further considered by the Government as part of the next phase of the project," Senator Hill said.
