Preparation for detonation of ordnance at Woomera

On 6 May 2004, an explosion rocked outback South Australia, damaging buildings and structures - all in the name of safety.
International and Defence ordnance experts detonated 5 tonnes of explosives at Woomera as part of an experiment to enhance international criteria for the safe handling and storage of explosives.
The detonation was managed by the Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO) under a research agreement with the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence and took place on the Woomera Test Range.
