Exercise Ocean Protector

11 February 2004

Exercise Ocean Protector is a combined maritime exercise, bringing together naval and maritime air force units from Australia and New Zealand. It is the Australian Defence Force's first major exercise for 2004 and brings together almost 2000 personnel from Australia and New Zealand. The exercise will enable our young men and women to practice and test their core warfighting skills in an exercise scenario off the New South Wales coast.

Exercise Ocean Protector involves a range of training serials to develop and test maritime war fighting. Key training serials will involve mariner exercises, aviation operations, general warfare and submarine operations. Ocean Protector is the lead up exercise for the larger combined maritime exercise - Exercise Tasman, which tests the collaborative warfighting skills of Australia and New Zealand.
