DEFENCE ANNOUNCES CONCLUSION OF MEDIATION WITH MS TANIA ZAETTA

The Chief of the Defence Force, Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston, today personally met with Ms Tania Zaetta to mark the conclusion of successful mediation between the Defence Department and Ms Zaetta.

Late last year, an agreement on compensation was reached for an unacceptable breach of privacy by the Department in relation to false allegations regarding Ms Zaetta while on a Forces Entertainment Tour in Afghanistan in April 2008.

During today’s meeting Air Chief Marshal Houston again apologised to Ms Zaetta and her family for any hurt and distress they may have suffered.

“Negotiations were conducted in good faith by both parties and we are now very happy to have this matter resolved,” Air Chief Marshal Houston said.

“There was no substance to the allegations.

“Ms Zaetta gave her time and her talent to entertain our forces serving in Afghanistan and she deserves our praise and our thanks.

“I have also made clear to Ms Zaetta that she is welcome to again join a Forces Entertainment Tour in the near future.”
