ADF TRAINING IN SOUTH-WEST SYDNEY

The Australian Defence Force will be conducting security training in and around Holsworthy and south western Sydney during 29 -31 August 2007 as part of a comprehensive program to practice it’s response to a security-related incident within Australia during the APEC Leaders Week in September 2007.

The training has been designed to have as little impact on residents as possible but limited noise as well as increased vehicle and troop movement will be noticeable.

During the training several helicopters will fly in formation to practice delivering soldiers onto locations in and around Holsworthy and south western Sydney.

The helicopters will make several approaches to the venues by day and night in order to rehearse aircrews.

Soldiers will be armed using explosives and simulated ammunition to achieve their training objectives.

New South Wales authorities and other government agencies are aware of the exercise and will be assisting the ADF in the conduct of the training.

Media Note.

The ADF will not be hosting any media access, filming opportunities or holding interviews throughout this activity.
