COMMUNITIES TO RECEIVE UPDATE ON HEADQUARTERS JOINT OPERATIONS COMMAND PROJECT (HQJOCP) Communities located near the planned Headquarters Joint Operations Command Defence facility near Bungendore will be briefed on the project at a series of public meetings in coming weeks. The facility will be located on land recently acquired by the Commonwealth approximately 11 kilometres southwest of Bungendore, NSW. The Director General for the HQJOC Project, Air Commodore Jack Plenty, will brief residents in Bungendore, Queanbeyan, Carwoola/Stoney Creek and Hoskinstown (see schedule below). "I will be providing a general project update and then explain the final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and the conditions of approval under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999," the Air Commodore said. The EIS and conditions are accessible on the Department of Environment and Heritage’s website and the Project’s website at www.defence.gov.au/id/hqjoc/Links. "These, the latest in an ongoing series of community meetings, will be a useful opportunity to advise local residents of the project and the final EIS and to discuss issues of concern. Residents can also ask questions and learn what will happen at the site as the project gathers pace," Air Commodore Plenty said. The project will provide Defence with an operational level integrated headquarters which will significantly improve the planning and execution of joint and combined Defence operations.
