HMAS KANIMBLA CONDUCTS AN EMERGENCY SEAKING HELICOPTER FLIGHT

Off the Indonesian Island of Nias, HMAS Kanimbla’s second Seaking helicopter has conducted an emergency flight to provide medical treatment to a member of the Aircraft Accident Investigation Team (AAIT) at the site of the crash last Saturday of Seaking ‘Shark 02’. The person involved was suffering heat stress.

The Navy has put in place an ‘operational pause’ on Seaking flying for the time being but this does not preclude flying for emergencies.

Navy will continue with the ‘operational pause’ until further notice.

The person concerned was re-hydrated and is now in a satisfactory condition. He remained with other members of the AAIT and the helicopter has returned to HMAS Kanimbla.
