UPDATE: VISION AND STILLS OF ADF ASSISTANCE IN SUMATRA

 

The latest vision and stills of ADF relief operations in Sumatra are now available.

Vision of HMAS Kanimbla and the RAAF Hercules operations have now been forwarded to the Parliament House media bureaux.

Stills have been loaded onto the Defence website – www.defence.gov.au – then go to Media Room, then go to Download.

Vision shows:

a) HMAS Kanimbla, ship’s company and medical en route to Nias. The ship is now off Nias Island and preparing to conduct relief operations.

b) The RAAF airlift operations, carrying relief stores and equipment to Sibolga, some 150kms north east of Nias on the Sumatran mainland. From there, the UN is organising boat transport to Nias where the equipment will be used by rescue and aid workers. Items include a fork-lift truck, water and water purification equipment.
