Service Regiment Parachute Training Accident A Special Air Service Regiment member has been very seriously injured following a parachute training exercise. The accident occurred at Hillman Farm near The member’s family have been notified and is being supported by the member’s unit and the Defence Community Organisation. “One of our soldiers has suffered very serious injuries as a result of this incident. Army will be doing everything it can to support him and his family at this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are very much with them,” Chief of Army, Lieutenant General Gillespie said. “Military parachuting is an inherently risky activity, but it is an essential capability requirement for our Special Forces and Airborne Infantry units. “An investigation will be conducted and we will be working closely with COMCARE through this process,” General Gillespie said.
Defence will not speculate on the cause of the accident. This will be determined through formal defence and COMCARE investigations. Media
