BOARD OF INQUIRY INTO THE DEATH OF PRIVATE JACOB KOVCO

The Board of Inquiry (BOI) into the death and repatriation of Private Jacob Kovco was adjourned today.  Private Kovco died on 21 April 2006 as a result of a single gunshot wound while serving with the Australian Security Detachment in Baghdad, Iraq.

Counsel Representing Soldiers 2 and 14 sought to withdraw from the BOI due to unforeseen circumstances. The President granted this request and as a consequence the BOI has been adjourned to a date and place to be fixed.

Defence will inform the public of the date and time that the BOI will reconvene, once this has been determined.
