A fresh batch of news images of Australian Defence Force support to Operation Sumatra Assist in Indonesia is now available online at: http://www.defence.gov.au/media/download/2005/Jan/index.cfm

Some 45 images have been loaded to this site in the last 24 hours, representing a wide cross-section of the ADF’s contribution.

The images include:

• A conference between the new commander of the Australian joint task force supporting tsunami relief, Brigadier Dave Chalmers, and the commander of the Indonesian Government tsunami relief programme in Aceh Province, Major General Bambang Darmono;

• Aerial photographs from a RAAF C-130 Hercules aircraft of tsunami damage to the town of Meulaboh, on the west coast of Aceh Province;

• 5 Aviation Regiment Iroquois helicopters commencing operations in support of tsunami relief in Sumatra;

• ADF surgical and medical evacuation teams caring for Indonesian patients; and

• An image gallery on the departure of HMAS Kanimbla to support tsunami relief.
