Doorstop Notification – Chief Medical Officer Departing with Australian Health Team for Tsunami Affected Areas WHO: Dr Michael Flynn – Head of the Australian Government Health Team WHEN: 11.45am, 29 December 2004 WHERE: RAAF Base Richmond The Australian Government Medical Team has been put together with Commonwealth and State medical personnel. The team includes general surgeons, orthopaedic surgeons, anaesthetists, general practitioners and emergency paramedics drawn from ADF reserve and civilian personnel. Staff have been drawn from States and Territories across Australia and the effort has been coordinated by the Commonwealth Medical Officer, Professor John Horvath. Final destination for the aircraft is still to be determined with the aircraft staging through Darwin tonight. The RAAF 707 will be configured to take passengers and a limited amount of essential cargo.
