HMAS COLLINS DOCKS FOR BATTERY EXCHANGE
The first of the Royal Australian Navy's new generation submarines, HMAS
COLLINS, will undergo a main battery exchange at the Australian Submarine
Corporation site in Adelaide from this week.
The COLLINS is scheduled to dock today for the battery change and a number
of other activities over the next 15 weeks.
The submarine will then undergo abbreviated maintenance for approximately
two weeks in Western Australia before re-entering service. The scheduled
main battery change will ensure the availability of three RAN submarines
throughout 2000.
