NEW C-130 HERCULES AIRCRAFT

The Royal Australian Air Force and Defence Acquisition Organisation invite media representatives to a welcome ceremony for the first of the RAAF's new C-130J Hercules aircraft.

The ceremony will take place at RAAF Base Richmond (west of Sydney) tomorrow, Tuesday, 7 September, from 9.30-11.00am.

Media representatives wishing to attend should register with Mike James on 02-9359 2784 or 0412 261604 to facilitate base clearances. Crews seeking chopper clearances should apply through normal channels but advise Mike James on the above numbers so ground transport can be arranged. Media arriving by road transport are asked to assemble at the main gate between 8.30 and 8.45am.

The aircraft will be flying over the Sydney and Richmond areas tomorrow between 7.45 and 9.45am and air-to-air vision/photographs will be available later in the day.

To facilitate TV coverage, library footage of the new aircraft has been supplied to the TV networks in the Canberra Gallery today.
