1998 ADFA Tri Service Graduation Parade
The Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) will tomorrow host their
1998 graduation parade for Navy, Army and Air Force members at the Academy
Parade Ground commencing at 9.30 am.
Two hundred and ninety Officer Cadets and Midshipmen from Singapore,
Thailand, New Zealand as well as Australia will graduate in ADFA's 12th
graduation.
The parade will be reviewed by Governor General, Sir William Deane.
The graduation ceremony follows the conferring of degrees to the 290
graduates in areas such as Humanities and Social Sciences (Arts), Science,
Engineering and Technology (Aeronauticial) today.
A FA18 will fly over to salute the graduating class during the parade.
The Minister for Defence, John Moore, the Chief of the Defence Force,
Admiral Chris Barrie and the Chiefs of the Navy, Army and Air Force will
also attend the parade.
The Governor General will present the Commander in Chief Medal
to the most outstanding Midshipmen or Officer Cadet in the fields of military
and academic achievement, leadership, personal example and performance
of duty during their time at ADFA.
The Chief of the Defence Force will also present the Chief of Defence
Force Prize for the most outstanding performance in military and academic
subjects in each of the three Services during their three years of studies
at ADFA He will also award The Sword of Honour for Leadership to
the most outstanding Midshipmen or Officer Cadet in leadership, personal
example and performance of duty.
