Navy Announces Senior Appointments

The Chief of Navy, Vice Admiral Don Chalmers, today announced four senior officer appointments that will take place in 1999.

Rear Admiral Simon Harrington, presently Support Commander – Navy, is appointed to the Australian Embassy in Washington as Head Australian Defence Staff - Washington, and will take up the position on 12 April 1999.

Navy's current Commodore Logistic Support, Commodore Nick Helyer, is appointed Naval Training Commander with effect 16 February 1999. He will replace Commodore Kevin Scarce.

Commodore Kevin Scarce will become Navy's Commodore Logistic Support on 19 February 1999.

Commodore Geoff Morton, the Naval Attache Washington, is appointed acting Head of Australian Defence Staff - Washington from 4 December 1998 until 11 April 1999.
