Tuggeranong Graduate Flies High
Army Lieutenant Scott Dore returned to his old school, Lake Tuggeranong
College, today in charge of one of the Army’s most exciting pieces of
equipment. Lieutenant Dore, 23, landed at the College he graduated from
in 1993 in an Army Blackhawk helicopter.
After a brief stint at university Lieutenant Dore joined the Army as
a trainee pilot. He underwent routine flying training on a variety of
Army aircraft in Lismore, Canberra and Oakey before being posted to 5
Aviation Regiment in Townsville as a Blackhawk pilot.
Lieutenant Dore decided to visit his old school not only due to a desire
to return to his old stamping ground but also as it is the only school
in the Canberra region that offers flight training for air cadets. Students
took the opportunity to look over the state of the art aircraft and were
enthusiastic in their questioning of Lieutenant Dore. In discussions with
student Daniel Biggs, 17 of Wanniassa, Lieutenant Dore realised that he
may not be the last graduate from the college to be a pilot. Daniel had
his keenness for flying rewarded by a quick trip in the Blackhawk under
Lieutenant Dore’s captaincy.
