NEW FINANCIAL SOFTWARE CONTRACT
The Department of Defence has signed a contract worth more than $14
million with SAP Australia for the provision of software and implementation
services for its financial software replacement project.
The Project Sponsor, Mr Frank Lewincamp, who heads the Resources and
Financial Programs Division, says Defence will implement an integrated
budgeting, accounting and reporting system using SAP R/3.
Deloitte ICS Consulting has been subcontracted by SAP Australia to provide
Defence with implementation services.
The contract covers Phase 1 of the Defence project that includes a high
level design for the entire project, and the design, configuration and
implementation of budget development, budget management, banking, corporate
treasury and accrual general ledger capabilities. These are scheduled
for implementation next July 1.
Work on phase 1 is set to begin immediately.
The contract value for Phase 1 is $14.478m.
Mr Lewincamp said full rollout of changed business practices and SAP
R/3 financials will be achieved in four phases through to around mid 2000.
