AIR FORCE ASSISTS AusAID MOVE SUPPLIES IN PNG

A Royal Australian Air Force Hercules C-130 transport aircraft left Townsville this morning to assist AusAID with the delivery of supplies to the drought stricken central highlands of Papua New Guinea.

The Hercules will pick up 19000 lbs of supplies in Port Moresby, mainly food, medical supplies and fuel for the Rumginae Health Centre The aircraft will then fly to Wewak to pick up further supplies for the area around the Ok Tedi Mine. Over the following two days, the Hercules will deliver supplies from Wewak to Tabubil and Kiunga in the Western Province of PNG.

The aircraft is expected to return to return to Australia on Thursday, 25 September.
