AUSTRALIA AND BRITAIN STRENGTHEN DEFENCE LOGISTICS LINKS
The Defence relationship between Australia and Great Britain has been further strengthened with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding concerning cooperation in defence logistics between both countries.
The MOU will enable both countries to take advantage of cross-serving opportunities which may arise from British and Australian forces being deployed in the same location in peacetime or during periods of international tension and circumstances of armed conflict.
It should also benefit defence industry in both countries through provisions which encourage the reciprocal use of each others' industrial base, particularly in the area of logistics services.
The MOU will provide opportunities for Australia and Great Britain to achieve greater interoperability and compatibility of logistics systems, thus increasing the scope for bilateral exercises as well as multilateral exercises through the Five Power Defence Arrangements.
