LATEST ADF BATTLEFIELD COMPUTER EQUIPMENT ON DISPLAY AT OLD PARLIAMENT HOUSE
A display featuring new computer technology aimed at giving Army commanders the winning edge on the battlefield will be held on the lawns behind Old Parliament House from 11.30 am tomorrow (Thursday, April 17).
Called Project AUSTACSS, the equipment features an integrated suite of software applications and hardware designed to give commanders the ability to manage information, examine problems and send out orders to the troops quicker than ever before.
Joining the AUSTACSS equipment on display will be an eight-wheeled Army ASLAV (Australian Light Armoured Vehicle) and the Parakeet Phase 4.3 Transportable Earth Stations. Like AUSTACSS, both represent state-of-the-art Australian design initiatives for Defence.
Tomorrow's display is part of the Celsius Tech Australia AUSTACSS 1997 Annual Review aimed at giving Celsius Tech (the Project AUSTACSS contractor) the chance to display its work to Government Departments and other audiences.
