BOOK LAUNCH BY FORMER CHIEF OF THE DEFENCE FORCE ADMIRAL ALAN BEAUMONT, AC RAN (RET)

A new series about the Armed Forces of Asia is being launched by the former Chief of the Defence Force, Admiral Alan Beaumont, AC, RAN (retired) at 4pm at The Australian College of Defence and Strategic Studies, Kirkpatrick Street (off Cotter Road) Weston Creek on Friday 28 February 1997.

The work is titled The Armed Forces of Indonesia by Robert Lowry who will be present at the launch.

The series comprises studies of the armed forces of countries from Pakistan in the west to the Russian Far East in the north.

Each of the works in the series covers defence policy and strategic framework, command and control, the structures and functions of each wing of the armed forces including territorial and paramilitary formations, personnel, recruitment, training and career structures, economic and commercial role, internal security role, socio-political role, and future strategy.

The co-editors of the series, Professor Desmond Ball, Professor and former Head of the Strategic and Defence Studies Centre at the Australian National University, and Air Marshal Ray Funnell (retired), the Principal of the Australian College of the Defence and Strategic Studies will also be present.
