Defence Commendation Scheme

Defence had introduced a commendation scheme to recognise outstanding or exceptional achievement, or specific acts of bravery, by Defence personnel. These achievements are often not suitably recognised by the Australian honours and awards system.

A commendation may be made for a single outstanding performance, or for consistent performance.

Commendations may be made to individuals or groups.

The policy, together with instructions on nominations, can be found here.
