Vietnam Logistic and Support Medal

VLSM Obverse VLSM Reverse

In 1993, the Vietnam Logistic and Support Medal (VLSM) was established to recognise those who had served in Vietnam during the time of the Vietnam War for relatively short periods of time in support of Australian operations and who had not received any recognition for that service.

Personnel eligible for the Vietnam Medal are not entitled to the VLSM.

The Medal

The VLSM is a cupro-nickel medal that has the same obverse and reverse design as the Vietnam Medal but with a plain suspender.

The Ribbon

The ribbon has three central pin-stripes of red on a yellow background to represent the RVN flag. This is flanked by narrow stripes of red, dark blue, light blue and brown, representing the Army, Navy, Air Force and the brown representing the colours of coastal and inland waterways of Vietnam.

The source documents for the VLSM are:

CAG S79 dated 10 March 1993 (Letters Patent and Regulations)

CAG S251 dated 13 August 1993 (Declaration and Determination)
