With effect from Monday 26 July 2004, a new Defence Legal (DL) Division within Defence Support Group was created.

This action recognised the growing importance of Defence Legal's services and the contribution to, and support of, Defence strategic priorities.

The structure for Defence Legal had not previously provided the profile needed to fulfil this potential.

Progressively, the new division will subsume the existing Defence Legal and various other legally-related functions.
