Directorate of Litigation

Role

The Directorate of Litigation manages litigation and related activities for the Ministers and Parliamentary Secretary, the Department of Defence and the Australian Defence Force in respect of civil claims against the Commonwealth, including administrative law challenges and judicial review of decisions. The Directorate manages a range of matters including:

  • Personal Injury Claims
  • Responding to Court Orders such as Subpoenas and Summons
  • Coronial Inquests
  • Debt Recovery
  • Compensation Claims
  • Aircraft Noise Complaints

Court orders for production of documents (e.g. Subpoenas, Notices to Produce or Summonses) are to be served on:
