Major General Grant Cavenagh, AM
Commander, Joint Logistics (CJLOG)

Major General Grant Cavenagh is the Commander, Joint Logistics (CJLOG). In this role he is the strategic logistics advisor to the CDF and Secretary, and he commands the Joint Logistics Command. Joint Logistic Command carries out support to Australian Defence Force operations, strategic logistic analysis, planning, policy, procedures, experimentation, transformation, national and international logistic agreements, logistics assurance, national warehousing and distribution, and many maintenance functions.

He was also a member of Directing Staff at Army Command and Staff College and his staff appointments have included a computer systems posting, Research Officer Strategy and Concepts in Army Headquarters and as the Australian Defence Force’s Deputy Director Mobilisation.

Major General Cavenagh is a graduate of the Royal Military College, Army Command and Staff College and Joint Services Staff College.  He is a graduate of the Harvard Business School, Advanced Management Program and has a Master of Defence Studies, a Bachelor of Arts and Graduate Diplomas in Computing, Strategic Studies and Management. He is a Master Project Director within the Australian Institute of Project Management, a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

In 1999, Major General Cavenagh was awarded the Order of Australia for his services to logistics and in 2000 he was awarded a Commendation for Distinguished Service as the Commander, Force Logistic Support Group, International Force East Timor.
