- Key DOS responsibilities in the regulation of EO are:
- to define standards and develop policies and procedures for the safety of EO;
- the technical regulation of EO storage and transport activities;
- the independent audit of Defence EO activities relating to explosives storage, handling and transport;
- to convene the Ordnance Safety Review Board (OSRB) to:
- Review EO policy and processes;
- to independently review and endorse EO Design Assessments in accordance with Defence Explosive Ordnance Publication (DEOP) 102, Technical Integrity of Explosive Ordnance; and
- Qualify explosives.
- to assist the Services to fulfil their audit responsibilities in relation to maintaining the technical integrity of EO.
