Deputy Judge Advocate General - Air Force

Air Commodore His Honour Judge C.F Wall RFD, Q.C.

Air Commodore Wall was born in Melbourne in 1946. He graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1968 and was admitted to practice in Victoria in March 1969.

From May 1969 until January 1977 he practised in Papua New Guinea as a Crown Prosecutor and then Principal Defending Officer at the Public Solicitors Office.

He returned to Australia in January 1977 and from then until September 1996 he practised at the Northern Bar from Chambers in Townsville, Queensland. He was also admitted in New South Wales and the Northern Territory of Australia,

He was appointed Queens Counsel for Queensland on 13 November 1986 and for the Northern Territory on 30 January 1989. He was a part time Deputy Chairman of the Aboriginal Land Tribunal (Queensland) and a part time Member of the Land Court of Queensland from 1992-1996.

On 11 September 1996 he was appointed a Judge of the District Court of Queensland. Shortly after that date he was appointed a Judge of the Planning and Environment Court of Queensland and the Childrens Court of Queensland.

He is a past President of the North Queensland Bar Association and a past member of the Committee of the Bar Association of Queensland. He is a former member of the Roster of Experts, United Nations Centre on Transnational Corporations.

He joined the RAAF Reserve as a Legal Officer on 30 November 1971 in Port Moresby. He has extensive experience appearing in Courts-Martial in all 3 services in Australia and Malaysia. He was previously a Judge Advocate, Defence Force Magistrate and Reviewing Judge Advocate.

He was appointed Deputy Judge Advocate General on 24 August 2006 and promoted to Air Commodore on the same day. He was awarded the Reserve Force Decoration on 30 November 1986 and a first clasp on 30 November 1991 and a second clasp on 30 November 1996.

His extra-curricular interests include tennis, lawn bowls, reading and travelling. He is married with 3 children.
