Senator Johnston asked the Minister representing the Minister for Defence, upon notice, on 26 February 2009:
As at 31 December 2008: (a) how many uniformed staff are there in each of the three service areas (i.e. army, navy and air force); and (b) how many civilian staff are there in each of the service areas.
In the period 1 October to 31 December 2008, how many uniformed personnel were recruited to each of the service areas.
In the period 1 October to 31 December 2008: (a) how many uniformed staff resigned from each of the service areas; and (b) how many civilian staff resigned from each of the service areas.
In the period 1 October to 31 December 2008, how many temporary civilian positions existed, or were created, in each of the service areas.
(a) In the period 1 October to 31 December 2008, how many civilian employees have been employed on contract; and (b) what is the average length of their employment period in each of the service areas.
