Senator Hill - The answer to the honourable senator's question is as follows:

  1. to (7) The Defence and Industry Advisory Council has been disestablished and replaced by the Capability Development Advisory Forum (CDAF). The aim of the CDAF is to facilitate informed decision making by providing senior industry and Defence representatives with a mutually beneficial environment in which industry can put forward its views early in the capability development process, and enable Defence to test the strength of capability proposals with industry.

The CDAF is jointly chaired by the Chief Executive Officer of the Defence Materiel Organisation and the Chief of the Capability Development Group. It met for the first time on 7 November 2005, although its membership and processes have yet to be finalised. It is proposed that the CDAF meetings will take place in June of each year.
