clauses on Fire Protection Engineering for inclusion in Function
Design Briefs Sample Statement of Evidence to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Works 1. The Manual of Fire Protection Engineering (MFPE 2011) contains the fire protection requirements for all Defence owned and leased facilities. The requirements of this manual are mandatory Defence policy on fire protection engineering and are authorised by DI(G) ADMIN 20-26. 2. Defence new construction, refurbishments, changes of occupancy and buildings being assessed for lease by Defence (including lease renewals), are required to be certified to the Manual of Fire Protection Engineering by a Building Surveyor, accredited with the Building Surveyors and Allied Professions Accreditation Board Incorporated. Dispensations and Alternative Design Solutions 3. The required procedures for seeking Defence approval for dispensations or alternative design solutions, are detailed in the Manual of Fire Protection Engineering Chapter 26. 4. The Department of Finance and Administration has dis-established the Commonwealth Fire Board and Commonwealth Fire Board Circulars and Bulletins are now suitable for information only. At this stage, it is not known how the PWC will obtain specialist advice on fire protection of Commonwealth facilities when considering major new or redevelopment proposals. 5. The Manual of Fire Protection Engineering is issued by Defence Publications to authorised registered users, who automatically receive amendments. For this reason, unauthorised photocopies of the manual or individual chapters should be actively discouraged. 6. The contact officer for authorisation of issue or queries in relation to the manual and for fire protection matters generally is the Director Estate Engineering Policy (DEEP) on 02 6266 8173. |
