1) Validate the User requirement.

The Project Manager must confirm that the works requested in the CSIR are still required and that the users requirement is still the same. 

RMW Projects are undertaken to mitigate a specific set of risks as stated in the CSIR. Additional works requested by the customer post project approval should only be considered in those circumstances where they directly contribute to the projects outcome as approved by the DISC.

The Project Director will need to identify and include all Green Building requirements.

Source Design

4) The Design for the new structure may be developed in house where the capability exists or contracted to an Architect or other design agency.

Design costs are to be taken out of the project budget.

Should there be a requirement for specialist consultation eg. Geological or Hydraulic Surveys then these costs should be placed against Work Planning Fees.

Review Design

5) Design reviews meetings are conducted by the CMS Project Manager at pre determined intervals. Present at the meeting should be:

• Customer Units Commanding Officer or other appropriate officer;
• DSG Reps; and
• Designer.

Technical authorities and Base Services may also request involvement in the review activity.

The Customer Units Commanding Officer signs as approving the design.

The IAD Design Review Template may be used to support the design review process.

This document may be amended in line with the scale of works required.

Design is normally reviewed at:

• Schematic Design (notionally 50%), and
• Detailed Design (notionally 90%).

Approval of Design

6) Once the design is complete, it is approved in writing by the:

• Customer Units Commanding Officer
• DSG Program Manager,
• CMC/CMS Project Manager,

Technical Authorities and Base Services may request to be involved in the approval of the design.
