Design Progression Step 4 - Review Design
Activity Considerations Outcome

Review of the design involves five stages. Those stages are:

1) 4a Site Selection Process

2) 4b Concept Design Report (typically 30% design)

3) 4c Schematic Design Report (typically 50% design)

4) 4d Detailed Design Report (typically 90% design)

5) 4e Finalise scope of Works (close to 100% design)

At each design milestone the Designer is required to prepare a design report in consultation with relevant stakeholders.

  • IAD Project Officer to check Site Selection Process with DLPSI.
  • Throughout the Design Review process, the Project Manager and/or Designer must address all Defence requirements and issues.
  • Design documentation produced must never be silent on any issue/feedback provided to Project Manager and/or Designer by the IAD Project Officer
  • Any proposed variation/alternative solution to IM mandated policies must have TA sign off.
  • IAD Project Officer to check requirement with DEEP.
  • Environmental Issues and Risks and implementation of the Environmental Impact Assessment Process in accordance with the EIAS.
  • The outcome of the review design phase is sufficient cost estimate to finalise the DBC.
  • The DBC can be produced at any stage of the review design phase.
  • The DBC cost includes commissioning and takeover costs
  • The stage at which the DBC is produced depends upon the complexity of the project.
