Welcome to the Inspector General Division
The Inspector General Division provides assurance and advice to the Secretary Department of Defence, Chief of the Defence Force and Chief Executive Officer of the Defence Materiel Organisation (DMO) regarding the execution of their responsibilities. The Division does this by:
Providing independent internal audit and review services:
- Undertaking independent Management Audit tasks, in accordance with approved annual audit work plans and other investigative tasks as required, providing managers with assurance, assisting them in performance improvement and advising on the efficiency and effectiveness of resource management, the corporate governance framework and accountability structures in Defence and DMO.
Investigating fraud and educating Defence Staff about ethics and fraud awareness by:
- Taking a leading and coordinating role in fraud prevention and promoting ethical conduct within the Defence Portfolio;
- Investigating allegations of fraud, misconduct and lack of probity;
- managing the Defence Policing and Security Management System; and
- Managing the Defence Whistleblower Scheme.
