Energy Australia High Voltage Cable Relocation

The cable currently runs directly through Development Precinct and underneath the area designated for the new Army Oval. To allow for the future subdivision of the Surplus Land and the excavation and construction of the Oval, a new alignment for the cable has been agreed with Energy Australia. The new alignment will follow the proposed street layout for the subdivision Development Precinct through the Randwick Defence Site, connecting back to the existing route outside the Defence Land.

As part of the agreement, the Department of Defence has remediated the entire length of the cable route within the Development Precinct to the approval of an EPA accredited independent Site Auditor. Defence will excavate and back fill the cable trench and Energy Australia will be responsible for the laying of the new cable and connections of the power through the new route, however, it is understood that the power supply will not be affected during the works.
