Open Space

Army Oval
The Department of Defence proposes to construct a new oval on the portion of the Randwick Site that it is to retain. The oval will remain under the control of the Army for use by service personnel, but will be available for active recreational use by the community, subject to the operational needs of the Army.

The oval will be fringed by areas landscaped for passive recreational use and will also function as a stormwater detention basin as a part of the stormwater management strategy for the Development Precinct.

Neighbourhood Parks
The Master Plan outlines a comprehensive system of neighbourhood parks for the Site with a total area of approximately 24,280m². These open spaces have been designed around their individual characteristics and locations to allow a range of passive recreational uses. Connections with the surrounding street network provide direct access to the parks from the surrounding community.

The Neighbourhood Parks will be furnished with play equipment and park furniture. Their size and location will provide for a range of recreational opportunities, from walking to bar-be-queing and flying a kite, and will complement other parks in the area.
