Welcome to the project website for the Moorebank Units Relocation (MUR) Project.
Background
In April 2012 the Australian Government approved plans to consolidate and upgrade the Holsworthy Barracks, with units based at Moorebank to move to new, purpose-built facilities at the expanded base. The MUR Project involves relocating the School of Military Engineering (SME) and other Defence Units to a new home at Holsworthy.
A total of 13 Defence Units and four Defence facilities, including the School of Military Engineering (SME) will relocate to new purpose-built, best-practice facilities at Holsworthy.
This project provides an opportunity for Defence to incorporate planned program expenditure to consolidate elements of the work and to provide long term operational efficiencies to Holsworthy Barracks. The project will upgrade or replace existing engineering services, demolish obsolescent buildings and undertake some temporary relocation works at Holsworthy Barracks to enable the proposed works to proceed.
The relocation will provide an opportunity for cost-effective capability upgrades and consolidation of military capability and support elements in the one location.
