| Headquarters Joint Operations Command Project - Land Acquistion |

The Headquarters Joint Operations Command Project passed another significant milestone in March 2006 with the acquistion of the final section of land required for the Project under the Land Acquisition Act 1989.
Details of the land acquisition process were published in the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette on 8 March 2006 and in the public notices section of The Canberra Times and The Queanbeyan Age on 10 March 2006.
The final parcels of land acquired were for an Emergency Access Route connecting the Headquarters site to Molonglo River Drive and the Captains Flat Road through Carwoola/ Stony Creek.
The total area of land acquired for the new headquarters is approximately 240 hectares, comprising about 218 hectares, or 540 acres, for the land for the Headquarters site and about 22 hectares, or 54 acres, for the two access roads and a railway stratum for the construction of the primary access road underpass under the Canberra to Goulbourn railway line.
