The mission of ID is to create a sustainable Defence Estate that supports ADF Capability.

ID manages on a national basis, and on behalf of the portfolio, all buildings, infrastructure and property as 'corporate assets' and is responsible for all 'building owner' functions. ID develops, recommends, implements and reviews facilities and property policies, plans, programs, procedures and standards including capital works, property acquisition and disposal, repairs and maintenance and environmental policy and management.
